The Swiss administration is currently hard at work to establish the groundwork for a Swiss E-ID law and practical framework. SI hosts events with various stakeholders in the developmenmt of E-ID and has small working group on the topic.

The Swiss Informatics Society (SI) is committed to the interests and reputation of IT professionals in Switzerland.Through specialized groups (our SIGs such as SIRA, SISR and more), focused projects, high-level events (including the Swiss IT Congress), publications (including Digital Magazine), policy engagement on IT-related educational topics, legislation and national strategies in the context of digitization, we further this cause. SI cooperates with various organisations in Switzerland (such as digitalswitzerland, Swiss ICT and others), Europe (such as the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies CEPIS) and worldwide (such as the International Federation for Information Processing IFIP). We are also closely linked to our sister societies abroad (Germany - GI eV, Austria - OCG).
SI represents IT professionals as well as IT education at several levels (users, technicians and high-level professionals). The majority of IT educators are members of SI, as are a large number of professionals, guaranteeing advice on training, specialization and continued development in the field of IT for our members. SI wants our profession to be recognized at a national level and proactively supports high-quality continuing education. The promotion of continuing education courses is one of SI's missions. Qualifying for the title “IT Expert SI” demonstrates a level of IT competence, quality of training and business competences. This qualification helps to improve the quality of IT and protects jobs in Switzerland.
SI unites IT professionals in all parts of Switzerland, making it a nationwide association. With around 1500 members, it is the largest professional association in Switzerland.
